Collection: Carrie Kearsey Glass
With a career in teaching Art, I am an experienced, professional practitioner in Glass and Ceramics. I run workshops in fused glass and the Tiffany technique of copper foiling. I also work with traditional stained glass methods, using paint, texture and design to give a more contemporary finish. My fused glass is inspired by Nature and covers a range of themes including landscape, seascape, floral borders, woods and wild meadows. I produce pieces for both indoors and the garden, such as my tall garden panels, butterflies or hangings, which add all year colour and interest to containers or borders.
Having worked with a range of media I am often asked why I choose to work with glass.
Working with glass, where firing in a kiln is involved, combines science with art and the results can be unexpected and captivating. However the pieces really come to life when held up to the light - the colours zing and the glass takes on a new radiance. The sun shining through coloured glass is truly magical. And this is why I have chosen glass as my medium - or has it chosen me!
